Quickstart

You’ve created your account — now let’s get your first bot up and running.

Create Your Bot

  1. Open the UseOpenClaw dashboard and click the New button (plus icon)
  2. You’ll be asked for a Telegram bot token — if you don’t have one yet, follow the Telegram Setup guide to create one
  3. Paste your bot token and confirm

Your bot will begin provisioning. Within moments it will be live and ready to receive messages on Telegram.

Initialize OpenClaw

The first time you message your bot on Telegram, it walks you through an initialization flow:

  • Name — What should the bot call itself?
  • Emoji — Pick a signature emoji that represents your bot
  • Timezone — Set the timezone so your bot is aware of your local time

This only takes a minute and shapes how your bot presents itself.

Give It a Soul

After the basics, your bot asks you to define its identity:

  • Who the bot is — Describe its role, personality, and tone. Is it a personal assistant? A creative partner? A technical advisor?
  • Who you are — Give it context about yourself so it can tailor responses to your needs, background, and working style

This identity persists across all conversations. The more context you provide, the more useful your bot becomes over time.

Your First Conversation

You’re all set. Start chatting with your bot in Telegram — try asking it a question, giving it a task, or just having a conversation. Your bot remembers context across sessions, so it gets better the more you use it.

💡 Tip

Use the /reset command in Telegram if you ever want to clear the chat history while preserving the bot’s identity and memory.
